The Big One!

*sigh*...my baby boy is a year old. Time has flown past. It really feels like I'm just coming down from the high of the phone call that he's on his way, the late night 3 hour drive to the hospital, the hours of waiting and uncomfortable-ness, the anticipation, the panic, the excitement, the highs and lows of the NICU, etc. I honestly feel like it was just a few months ago. I could get his scrapbook out and reflect over the past year of his life but..uhh well...it's not done. I have A page done..yeah, 1 page. Ray rah go me. Scrapbooking baby pictures is a trap! Those scrapbook stores knew good and well that I wasn't going to have time to scrapbook baby pictures once the baby came! They probably laughed at me all the way out the door. "The poor girl thinks she's going to actually have time to scrapbook every little detail of his life". Had I done his scrapbook when things happened, yes it would be every little detail. Now I'm just trying to put the pictures together in the order that they happened! *holds up 2 pictures of Karsen* Yep, he looks bigger in he one on the right, I guess that one can go after the one on the left.". Oh I'm kidding..sorta. I plan on doing a lot of his scrapbook while in isolation, which should be next week. I'm still trying to figure out a way I could make a bubble or wrap myself in something so I can have human contact, but I figured I'd sweat in saran wrap and plastic bubbles with arms are too expensive. They said you can buy anything on Ebay, but I've yet to find a plastic bubble.

Anywhoo...the boy turned one on April 5th. We threw him a big 1st birthday bash of course. It was jungle themed, but mostly monkies. We had a great turnout and he got lots of neat gifts. Here are a few pictures of him enjoying his party.

I took him to the doctor today for his 1 year checkup. He weighs 23.03 lbs which is in the 57th percentile. He is 31 3/4 inches tall which is in the 95th percentile!! So he is tall and lean. The nurse also said he is freakishly strong. She was trying to pin his legs down to give him his shots and he wasn't having it. She said he was really strong and I was like "uh huh(der)" as I am attempting to hold the other end of him on the table.

I plan on taking posed shots of him for his 1 year photos soon, but to tide you over, here is a picture of him that was given to me a surprise at his birthday. My inlaws (and Shaun) took Karsen to get his pictures taken one weekend as a surprise to me. He's so stinkin' cute. Yes, those are real animals.
